How to reconcile Stripe payouts without an API connection
A file-based workflow can be useful when you want a one-off payout-to-bank comparison without granting a third-party application ongoing access to Stripe or your bank.
How the file workflow works
- Export the relevant payout or payout-reconciliation data from Stripe yourself.
- Download the bank statement for the same period and account.
- Load both files into a local browser tool and review amount, currency, date-window, reference, unmatched and ambiguous results.
- Keep the original files locally and use the report as an investigation aid.
What “without API” means
No Stripe API key, OAuth connection or bank credential is required for this workflow. Payout Reconciler processes the selected financial files in the browser and does not make an automatic account connection. The trade-off is that exports are manual: there is no real-time sync, scheduled refresh, or automatic retrieval of new payouts.
Choose the right Stripe report
For automatic payouts, Stripe’s Payout reconciliation report can identify balance activity associated with a payout. For a bank comparison, retain payout-level date, net amount, currency and reference information. For manual payouts, Stripe does not provide the same explicit transaction-to-payout relationship, so do not infer attribution that the export does not contain.
Limitations to keep visible
- Real customer-generated Stripe export compatibility is currently being validated in the public pilot.
- Bank dialect and file-layout coverage varies; see supported formats.
- This is not accounting automation, tax advice, a QuickBooks/Xero replacement or proof of why a bank transfer failed.
- Do not upload credentials or send financial files to support.
